Excess Flow Valve

The high pressure Excess flow valve is designed to shut off in the event of an excess flow condition resulting from a pipe burst or in circumstances where maximum flow rates need to be controlled. This must be done without causing a pressure surge (water hammer) in the process. The trip mode is in 2 stages – initially very rapid to prevent runaway flow, then slowly to give a soft shut off. The trip flow is normally set at 35% above the working flow rate.
