Water technology is used in underground mines as an alternative to compressed air, electrically controlled machines and oil hydraulic machines.  Other than the standard benefits in Health, Safety and Environmental matters viz dust suppression, cooling capability,  hazardous noise reduction, oil vapour free environment, no slippery footwall conditions due to oil, no contamination of ore bearing rock due to oil and improved visibility in the case of compressed air mines and that hydropower as an energy source is powerful, we are now recirculating the water as opposed to dumping it on the footwall, we are able to remote control machines via radio link, we hydro-transport the ore bearing rock and we are able to extract reef with mechanical mining methods on a 24/7 basis.  Reef extraction is done by drilling out the reef or by using thermal spalling.

Furthermore hydropower is clean technology, energy efficient and relatively cheap compared to other energy mediums which makes it the technology going into the future.

It is important to notice that all our water powered machines and equipment operate off normal mine service water ie no special filtration/purification is required.
